Rosetta "Rose" M. Spreter's Obituary
Rosetta "Rose" M. Spreter, age 96, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 1:10 p.m., surrounded by her loved ones in Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.
Rose was born on March 15, 1926 in Kaskaskia, IL, a daughter to Isadore "Alphonse" and Mary P. (nee. Lusk) Link. On October 11, 1947 she married Ralph E. Spreter in East St. Louis, IL, and he preceded her in death after 57 years of marriage on August 14, 2005. Rose was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, IL, for 55 years. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and was one of the quilters, who every Friday, helped to create many beautiful quilts for their monthly quilt raffle and the church picnic.
Her house was always full of family and friends enjoying dinner, specifically her chicken and dumplings or her baked goodies, especially pies, cookies, and homemade donuts. She treasured all of the times spent with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She and her husband enjoyed camping during which she became a "rock collector" by bringing home rocks from every place they visited. Rose also loved sewing, playing cards, watching the St. Louis Cardinals on T.V., and was a loyal fan of the soap operas, The Bold and the Beautiful and the Young and the Restless.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sharon (Stephen) Sauthoff and Mary K. Etter; two grandchildren, Richard (Julie) Spiker and Jennifer (Larry) Cole; three great-grandchildren, Leanna Spiker, Jaxson Cole, and Austin Cole; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Alphonsus Link, Bernetta (Jerold) Finley, Isadore "Ed" (Bea) Link, Virgil (Margie) Link, LaVerne (Bill) Moore; Hubert (Maria) Link, William (Betty) Link and Gerold Link.
Funeral services will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, IL, on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 12:00 p.m., with Father John Beveridge officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, at a later date.
Visitation will be at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the V.F.W. Post 5691 or Alzheimer's Association.
