Rose M. Degenhardt's Obituary
Rose Magdalen Degenhardt, 101 years, 5 months, 9 days old, of Oakdale, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 2:43 p.m., in Washington County Hospital, Nashville, IL.
Rose was born on July 14, 1924 in Perry County, IL, a daughter to Frank J. and Sophia R. (Kujawa) Ladendecker. On June 10, 1941, she married Bernard A. Degenhardt in St. Mary Magdelen Church, Todds Mill, IL, and from this union eight children were born. Bernard preceded her in death on November 2, 1993. Rose enjoyed playing bingo, slots, and cards, especially rummy and pinochle. Rose liked quilting and embroidering. Rose would watch old game shows like Concentration and Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, and she will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her four daughters, JoAnn Buss of Nashville, IL, Connie Heisner of Pinckneyville, IL, Linda Jausel of Pinckneyville, IL, and Barb (Gabe, Jr.) Lively of DuQuoin, IL; seventeen grandchildren, John Degenhardt, Scott (Michelle) Degenhardt, Kevin (Susan) Degenhardt, Lori (Brian) Feldt, Doug (Michelle) Buss, Angie (Dave) Heiman, Rick (Judy) Heisner, Lisa (Robert) Hepburn, Tammy (Adrian) Eisenhauer, Joe (Sara) Heisner, Alison (Shawn) Buckingham, Megan (Will) Reinburg, Jason (Pam) Craig, Jarid (Michelle) Craig, Josh Craig, Brandon (Jaime) Nehring, and Dustin (Tasha) Gentry; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Margaret Degenhardt of Oakdale, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; one infant daughter, Victoria Rose; three sons, James Degenhardt, Thomas Degenhardt, and Mark Degenhardt; three son-in-laws, Dennis Buss, Norbert Jausel and Bill Heisner; one great-granddaughter, Ali Williams; one great-grandson, Devon Heisner; four brothers, Paul Ladendecker, John Ladendecker, Ed Ladendecker, and Frank Ladendecker; six sisters, Catherine Scherle, Bernice Mathis, Irene Rabenort, Frances Hutchings, Helen Kellerman, and Catherine Ladendecker in infancy.
A funeral service will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Todds Mill, IL, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with Father John Igwe officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Cemetery, Todds Mill, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday morning at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The rosary will be recited by the family on Tuesday evening at the funeral home at 4:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Murray Parent Association, Centralia, IL or a mass dedication.
