Ronald "Ron" L. Parsell's Obituary
Ronald "Ron" L. Parsell, age 79, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 5:35 p.m. at his home. He was the fifth child born to Dale E. and Marjorie (Buckingham) Parsell.
Ron was born on March 11, 1943, in Kenton, OH. On September 1, 1963 he married Carolyn Jo Ann Greer at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator for the Consolidated Coal Company and Larry Loos Excavating. Ron was baptized at the Yorkstreet Christian Union Church, Wyandot, Co, OH. He was a member of U.M.W.A. and was recording secretary for the U.M.W.A. local union. Ron was also a member of Perry County Farm Bureau, St. Louis Show Me Corvair Club, Prairie State Corvair Club, International Corsa Corvair Club, J.I. Case Heritage Foundation. He loved collecting watch fobs, stamps, coins, Case Tractors and Corvairs.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Jo Ann Parsell of Coulterville, IL; four children, Marjorie (Craig) Maske of Plantersville, TX, Lyman (Jamie) Parsell of Smyrna, TN, Jeffery Parsell of Memphis, TN, and Kevin Parsell of Idaville, IN; thirteen grandchildren, Thomas (Kayla) Maske of Corsicana, TX, Trevor Maske of Plantersville, TX, Madeline Maske of Austin, TX, Laina (Michael) Shearon of Hopkinsville, KY, Kayla (Jet) Colson of Mt. Juliet, TN, Mylie Parsell of Smyrna, TN, Stormie Parsell of Smyrna, TN, Devin Schubert of Pinckneyville, IL, Braydon Schubert of Tamaroa, IL, Landon Schubert of Tamaroa, Riker Parsell of Layfette, IN, "RJ" Parsell of Idaville, IN, and Candace Parsell of Idaville, IN; eight great-grandchildren, Reuben Shearon, Remi Shearon, Thea Colson, Hazel Colson, Titus Colson, Mera Colson, Owen Maske, and Calvin Maske; one brother, Larry (Lorri) Parsell of Tucson, AZ; one brother-in-law, Eldon Stirn of Cridersville, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald J. Parsell; one daughter-in-law, LaVonda Parsell; two sisters, Carolyn Stirn, and Nancy (Paul) Miller; one brother, Eugene (Janice) Parsell; stepmother, Dorothy Parsell; one stepsister, Sue (Ralph) Quellhorst; and one stepbrother, John Beggs.
Funeral service will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Michael Shearon officiating. Interment will be at Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL.
Visitation will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
