Ronald G. Jenkel's Obituary
Ronald G. Jenkel, age 66, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 5:46 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital Emergency Room, Pinckneyville, IL. Ron was born on July 8, 1943 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Harold and Lois D. (Bigham) Jenkel. On October 4, 1963, he married Phyllis McElroy in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. Ron was a devoted member of Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, worked as a coal miner for Arch Minerals for over 30 years and was also self-employed as a farmer. Ron served as song leader for many years at his church, was a member of UMWA, served as a board member for Pinckneyville District # 204 School Board of Education and was a member of the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting, spending time in the woods hunting mushrooms and spending time with his family. Ron is survived by his wife, two sons; Jason (Amy) Jenkel of St. Louis, MO and Derek Jenkel of Pinckneyville, IL, a brother; Alan (Jeanie) Jenkel of Pinckneyville, IL, a sister; Jane (Raymond) Cheek of Pinckneyville, IL, two grandchildren; Andrew and William Jenkel both of St. Louis, MO, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Bill and Vivian McDonnough of Pinckneyville, IL and several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Collin Hirsh officiating. Interment will be in Holts Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and then at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Holts Prairie Cemetery Fund or Pinckneyville Ambulance Service.
