Ronald Roy Farthing's Obituary
Ronald Roy Farthing, age 66, of Sparta, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 6:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, IL. Ronald was born on September 9, 1940 in Cutler, a son to Roy Richard and Audrey Alice (Keene) Farthing. He was a veteran of the United States Army 101st Airborne 1st Calvary Division serving in Vietnam. On October 20, 1980, he married Arietta Coleman at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville and she survives. He was retired from McDonnell-Douglas Corporation where he had worked for 31 years as an expediter. He was a mason and loved gardening and building model airplanes. Survivors include his wife: Arietta Farthing of Sparta, one son: Forrest R. and wife Janet Farthing of Belleville, one step-son: Rex Dakin of Florida, two step-daughters: Robin Dakin of McClure, IL, and Rhonda and husband Terry Schimpf of Chester, IL, two sisters: Deborah D. and husband Charles H. Kelley of Sparta, Linda Lou and husband Ronald Dale Croissant of Freeburg, six grandchildren, one great-granchild, two nieces, and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held in Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Bud Bennett officiating. Interment will be in Cutler Cemetery, Cutler, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and then on Monday from 8:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth's Hospital or the Family of Ron Farthing.
