Rollie Conder, Jr.'s Obituary
Rollie Conder Jr., age 85, of Tamaroa, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, IL.
Rollie was born on November 10, 1934, in Gorham, IL to Rollie Lee and Minnie (Putman) Conder. He married Shirley Ann DeWitt on March 5, 1956. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 26, 2017. After her passing, Rollie visited her grave every day, kissed his two fingers and placed it on the picture attached to her monument and told her he would see her tomorrow if the creeks don't rise as Jimmy Dickens always said.
During his life he worked for the Forestry Department and as the Water and Sewer Superintendent in Murphysboro, IL where he retired after 35 ½ years of service. He loved gardening, working hard, and jeeping with the 618 group. During Jeeplife he won an award for being the oldest jeeper. He was a founding member for the A.M. Vets Outdoors group.
Rollie was survived by two sons, Steve Conder of DuQuoin, IL and David (Jackie) Conder of Carterville, IL; one daughter, Mary Ann Williams of DuQuoin, IL; two brothers, Elmer (Mary) Conder of Ellis Grove, IL and Don (Donna) Conder of DuQuoin, IL; one sister, Alma Bauernfeind of Carbondale, IL; ten grandchildren, Cheri (Paul) West, Danielle Huff, April (Dan) Snow, Ted Hood, Jonathan (Brandi) Williams, David (Alyssa) Conder II, Jacob Conder, Mathew (Elizabeth Gruenewald) Williams, Jayden Conder and Ryana Conder; sixteen great-grandchildren, Addy, Caiden, Bailey, Madison, Makayla, Angelynn, Anni, Zachary, Isabella, Aynsleigh, Olivia, Madelynn, Jon Weslee, Auna, Lailynn and Hazel.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Les Conder and Herman Conder.
The family has chosen to have a private family graveside service on Friday, April 3, 2020. Following the service, a video of the graveside service will be uploaded to our Pyatt Funeral Home Facebook page.
A visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Friday, April 3, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Due to health concerns related to the Covid-19 virus and by the signing of executive order by Governor J.B. Pritzker, attendance will be limited to no more than 10 people in the funeral home at one time.
The family will be holding a celebration of life at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children and the Lokota Native American School.
