Roger D. Perkey, Sr.'s Obituary
Roger D. Perkey, Sr., age 72, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 1:29 a.m. in Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, IL.
Roger was born on July 30, 1949 in DuQuoin, IL, a son to Albert and Mabel (Slover) Perkey. He was of the Baptist faith. Roger had owned and operated Perkey Auto Repair, Pinckneyville, IL for over 40 years. He was an excellent mechanic who was honest to a fault and had a great work ethic. Roger enjoyed bowling, fishing, cats and spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include his life partner, Patricia Feazel of Pinckneyville, IL; a son, Roger (Marie) Perkey of Tamaroa, IL; three daughters, Rhonda (Dallas) Bigham of DuQuoin, IL, Chris (Mark) Herrmann of Waterloo, IL and Heather Perkey of Pinckneyville, IL; two stepdaughters, Michelle (Wick) Hawes of Centralia, IL and Lori (Mark) Patterson of Centralia, IL; a brother, Leo Perkey of DuQuoin, IL; five sisters, Connie Smith of DuQuoin, IL, Betty Sronce of DuQuoin, IL, Judy Rybacki of DuQuoin, IL, Patti Crowe of Murphysboro, IL and Donna Ripley of Murphysboro, IL; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Perkey; and two sisters, Linda Restoff and Norma Heatherly.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Clardy officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Perry County Humane Society because of his love of cats or to the Perry County Counseling Center.
