Roger Brand's Obituary
Roger Brand, age 60, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 7:00 a.m., in his home surrounded by his family.
Roger was born on September 12, 1962, in Pinckneyville Hospital, a son to Herman Theodore and Clara Margaret (Bathon) Brand. On April 28, 1984, he married Meschelle Kocian in St. Bruno's Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she survives him. He worked as a self-employed florist and special event decorator for 39 years. Roger was a member of Nine Mile Baptist Church, Tamaroa, IL, Purely Pinckneyville, and the Pinckneyville and DuQuoin Chamber of Commerce. He designed the queen's float for the Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce and was involved with the Mardi Gras parade for 50 years consecutively. Roger was part of the Miss Illinois - County Fair Pageant Crew, the Miss Illinois Scholarship Association, the Oakdale Homecoming. Roger was the Special Events Director of the DuQuoin State Fair, and for several years was associated with Miss Perry County Fair Pageant. His joy in life was spending time with his family. His lifelong passion was floral design and special event design. Roger was part of 644 different weddings. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, and never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Meschelle Brand of Pinckneyville, IL; one sister; Diane Marie Brand of DuQuoin, IL; special friends, David and Judy Logsdon, Halene Overly, Ruth Furlow, Rosalie Kringer, Gabe, Jenna and David Herbst, Larry and Lisa Valier, and Deon and Barb Johnston; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many brothers in law and sisters in law.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at Nine Mile Baptist Church, Tamaroa, IL on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Robby Hagerman and Brother Nathan Jackson officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be at Nine Mile Baptist Church, Tamaroa, IL on Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to my beautiful wife, Meschelle, the Miss Illinois Queens Pageant Scholarship, or to 5 star industries.
