Robert Douglas West's Obituary
Robert Douglas "Bob" West, age 77, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 11:02 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL. Bob was born on July 24, 1930, a son to Harry and Lola (Rice) West. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force obtaining the rank of staff sergeant and serving in the Korean War. On October 27, 1956, he married Blanche Bigham and she preceded him in death on October 19, 1969. On September 27, 1970, he married Kay Templeton in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. In his lifetime, he had worked as a rural mail carrier and as a coal miner at Consolidated #5 of Desoto, IL. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, IL, Mitchell Lodge #85 AF & AM, East St. Louis Consistory, Ainaid Shrine, and Perry County Shrine Club, served as secretary on the Pinckneyville Community High School board, deacon in his church, and refereed high school basketball and football. Survivors include his wife: Kay West of Pinckneyville, IL, a son: Jeffrey Douglas (Sandy) West of Pinckneyville, IL, two daughters: Donna June (Henry) Neicamp of Marion, IL, and Natalie (Randy) Ellington of O'Fallon, IL, and nine grandchildren: Leanne Neicamp, Robyn Neicamp, Alexander West, Ashlee West, Abigail West, Emma Kay Ellington, and Tessa Ellington. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife: Blanche West, two brothers: Kenneth West and Arthur West, and a sister: Fay Opp. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, July 12, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Masonic services will be held at 11:00 a.m. and graveside committal services will immediately follow in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Memorial donations may be given to Shriners Hospital for Children.
