Robert "Bob" Knapp Sr.'s Obituary
On Friday, August 9, 2019, Robert "Bob" Knapp Sr., loving father, brother, uncle, friend, and Pee Paw, suddenly passed away at the age of 60. He fought a courageous battle against cancer.
Bob was born on November 8, 1958 in Du Quoin, IL to Harold and Lola Mae (Galbraith) Knapp. He had two children Robert Knapp Jr., and Tiffany Knapp.
Bob loved being outdoors and was an avid fisherman. From spring to fall he was at the lake reeling in the fish, mostly with his nephew and fishing companion, Nathen Chaney. Bob knew how to fry fish like no other. His fish fry's are legendary. In the winter, he enjoyed watching old western movies or listening to classic country. He loved wearing his cowboy hat, boots, vest, tie, and his Stetson cologne when he went out. He lived with his son, Bobby, his wife, Theresa, and his three grandchildren, Allie, Lily & Levi, who he absolutely adored. He was the best Pee Paw a kid could ask for. He was Allie's fishing tournament buddy every year and helped her bring home many trophies and plaques over the years. He spoiled all three of them with coffee in the mornings and walks to the pond out back.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Harold Knapp, his mother Lola Askew and step father, Donald Askew.
Left to mourn his passing are his children Robert (Theresa) Knapp Jr. of Tamaroa, IL and Tiffany Knapp of Mesa, AZ; his grandchildren Allie, Lily and Levi Knapp of Tamaroa, IL; siblings Joyce (Marvin) George of Du Quoin, IL; Glinda (Ralph) Marter of Pinckneyville, IL; William (Sharon) Knapp of Du Quoin, IL; Debra (David) Wright of Tamaroa, IL; Christy (Stan) Rector of Johnston City, IL; Thomas (Michele) Bittles of Tamaroa, IL; he also had many step siblings, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and extended family who will miss him dearly. Last but, not least to mourn his death is the family dog, Belle, who was always by Bob's side or on his lap. Wherever Bob went, Belle was there. She will truly be lost without him.
Memorial service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Jackie Davison officiating. Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery, Tamaroa, IL at a later date.
