Robert "Glenn" Thompson's Obituary
Robert Glenn Thompson, age 81, of Oakdale, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at 7:05 p.m. in Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL. Glenn was born on October 19, 1925 in Oakdale, IL, a son to Willard Gordon and Besse (Park) Thompson. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He was a member of Elkton Union Church, and a former longtime member of Oakdale Reformed Presbyterian Church. He worked a short-time in a manufacturing plant in Madison, IL and then the rest of his life in farming, first with his father and then on his own, specializing in the dairy business. In later years, he changed to raising beef cattle. He is survived by one brother: James Thompson of Fairfax, VA, three nieces and nephews: Judy (Chuck) Mitchell of Crystal City, MO, Bill (Andrea) Thompson of Culpeper, VA, and Carol (Bob) Wallach of Reva, VA, six grand-nieces and nephews: Cindy McClintock, Greg Mitchell, Chris Thompson, Laurie Johnson, Michael Thompson, and Patrick Wallach and two cousins: Janet Guenther of St. Louis, MO, and Mary Oakley of Hutchison, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Eleanor Thompson. Funeral services will be held in Oakdale Reformed Presbyterian Church, Oakdale, IL on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Ron Mazander officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Oakdale, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Oakdale, IL (in the Oakdale Village Hall) on Friday from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning at the Oakdale Reformed Presbyterian Church from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Elkton Union Church or Donor's Choice.
