Robert Gene Keith's Obituary
Robert Gene Keith, age 85, of Zeigler, IL passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 9:42 p.m. in his home.
Robert was born on October 18, 1935 in Marissa, IL, a son to Marion and Goldie (Gaddis) Keith. on March 17, 1956 he married Darlene Flare in Marissa, IL and she preceded him in death on December 26, 2003 and later in life, he married Malissa Jean Overton on November 27, 2010 in Zeigler, IL and she survives. Robert had proudly served in the United States Army where he was a Paratrooper. He had worked in road construction, for the railroad in St. Louis, MO, steel mill in Granite City, IL., and at Amex Coal as a coalminer. Robert was a member of the Zeigler Baptist Church, Zeigler, IL, and the Saddle Club, Christopher, IL. Robert loved making jewelry, fishing, camping, spending time with family and church family and his two dogs, Junior and Rosie.
Survivors include his wife Malissa Jean Keith of Zeigler, IL; two daughters, Amanda (Ron) Lemons of Las Vegas, NV and Sara (Tony) Wetherbee of Kalamazoo, MI; two sons, Robert Joseph Keith of Mulkeytown, IL and Matt (Tracy) Keith of Mulkeytown, IL; eight grandchildren, Katie Keith, Daniel (Amber) Keith, Dennis (Becca) Keith, Ofelia Perez (fiancé, Nick Livesay), Malissa Green, Alicia (Blake) Smith, Maranda Lemons, Zenida Perez, Wade (Brianna) Lemons and Giosue Lemons; twelve great-grandchildren, Henry Keith, Auri and Bella Contrerras, Marsha Smith, Nathan McFarland, Kiera Boddy, Nadia Lemons, Marcela Lemons, Martha Kave, Mason Kave, Illithyia Stateler, Levi Livesay; special niece Patricia (Paul) Barber, of Murphysboro, IL and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene; daughter, Marsha Green; grandson, Timmy Green; one sister, Lorene Slyvia and two brothers, Harold Keith and Glen Keith, niece Billie Jean Heiple.
A private family service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL with Pastor Wayne Purdie officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Due to health concerns related to the Covid-19, attendance will be limited, social distancing will be enforced and attendees are asked to wear a mask.
