Robert J. Dempsey's Obituary
Robert J. "Bob" Dempsey, age 83, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away Saturday morning, September 2, 2006 in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital. Bob was born in Rice, IL on April 1, 1923 the son of James and Inez (Hutchings) Dempsey. He was united in marriage to Leona Dempsey and to this union four children were born. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a bronze star recipient during World War II, worked as a truck driver and mechanic for Dunn Brothers Motors in Pinckneyville, IL and worked in his own repair shop for years. Bob enjoyed music and singing for others and was a member of Grace Outreach Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Bob is survived by one son, Robert J. "Bobby" Dempsey of Milwaukee, WI, three daughters, Jan Dolan and husband Gene of Bella Vista, AR, Ellice Wickwire of Pinckneyville, IL, and Shari Stone and husband Tom of St. Genevieve, MO, two brothers, Paul Dempsey of Effingham, IL, Warren K. "Junie" Dempsey of Perry, OH, two sisters, Norma Dunn of Pinckneyville, IL, Edith Lively of Villa Grove, IL, two grandchildren, Joe and Lynnlee Wickwire of Pinckneyville, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Urban Dempsey, and three sisters, Floy Blair, Ellice Shockley, and Mae Guenther. Funeral services will be held Monday morning, September 4, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL with Reverend Kirk Steele officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and again on Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. till Services. Memorials may be made to the Perry County Gold Plate Program or the Pinckneyville Ministerial Alliance.
