Robert "Bob" Mann's Obituary
Robert "Bob" Mann, age 96, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on February 28, 1928 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to George Joseph and Rose Catherine (Schneider) Mann. On October 1, 1949, he married Delores H. "Dee" Petty in Pinckneyville, IL and she passed away on May 28, 2013, after 63 years of marriage. He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps earning the rank of Sergent. Bob worked as a manufacturing manager for Sundstrand Corporation, Rockford, IL. He was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Bob loved gardening, taking care of his lawn and spending time with his family. He owned Mann's Apple Haus in Stillman Valley, IL. He loved giving tours, selling apples and apple cider. Bob volunteered at the Pinckneyville Jail Museum and he helped organize his class reunion for many years.
Survivors include his two sons, Donald H. (Sherry) Mann of Laguana Hills, CA, and Bruce A. (Christine) Mann of Scottsdale, AZ; one daughter, Patricia J. "Patti" (Mike) Mann Lofgren of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Davy Mann, Eric Lofgren, Sean Lofgren, and Garrett Mann; one step grandchild, Nicole Perow; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Perow, Averie Lofgren, and Journey Equiarta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores H. "Dee" Mann; four brothers, Jim Mann, Art Mann, Bill Mann, and Jack Mann; and five sisters, Helen Mann Hutchinson, Bette Mann Setzkorn, Mary Mann, Barbara Mann and Dororthy Mann.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., with Father Carl Schrage officiating. Interment will be at St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to masses at St. Bruno Catholic Church, to the St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
