Robert (Bob) J. Diffenauer's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Joseph Diffenauer, at the age of 81, passed away on October 24, 2024 and entered his eternal home.
Bob was born on January 9, 1943 in East St. Louis, IL to Harold and Dorothy (Luebbers) Diffenauer. On May 30, 1963 he married Rita Schrader at St. Teresa's Church in Marydale, IL and she preceded him in death on April 5, 2024. To this union were born four children, Robert Michael Diffenauer, Christopher Todd Diffenauer, Russell John Diffenauer and Robyn Lyn (Wilson) Diffenauer. Bob was a 1961 graduate of Mater Dei High School. He was a veteran of the United Sates Army. Bob worked in management at Kroger's for 41 years where he then retired. He was a member of the Egyptian Senior Golf Association and loved riding around the green with his golf partner Rusty, his Jack Russell Terrier. Bob dearly loved his family. Bob surrender his life to Jesus Christ at the age of 59 years old and was a member of Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort, IL. He served as the Sunday school teacher for 14 years, prayer coordinator for spiritual awakening, and served in the church's prison ministry at Big Muddy Prison. He loved going on mission trips sharing God's Word in Kansas, South Africa, Scotland, London, Croatia and Romania and was given the opportunity to preach in the prison there.
Survivors include his daughter Robyn Lyn and son-in-law Grant Wilson, granddaughter Daphne Christie (Tylar) Pribble and great-granddaughter Eliza, granddaughter Rachel Elizabeth (Travis) Lark and great-granddaughter Terra, grandson Robert Joseph Diffenauer and grandson-in-law Lincoln Johnson and great-granddaughter's Josie and Hazel; three sisters Ruth Ann (Norbert) Albers, Rosemary (Jim) Potts, and Rita Jones; one brother, Ronnie Diffenauer; two sisters-in-law Retha Smith and Rebecca Stevenson; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rita; three sons, Robert, Christopher, and Russell; his granddaughter Darlene Marie (Wilson) Johnson; and two sisters Rebecca Diffenauer and Roxie (Diffenauer) Nordike.
Funeral services will be held at Second Baptist Church, West Frankfort, IL, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 12:00 p.m., with Dr. Brett Beasley officiating. Interment will be at St. Bruno Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Illinois.
Visitation will be held at Second Baptist Church, West Frankfort, IL on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Second Baptist Church, West Frankfort, IL - C/O at MOP Mission on Purpose, to be used for continued mission trips or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
