Robert "Bob" William Curt Jr.'s Obituary
Robert "Bob" William Curt Jr., of Coulterville, IL, peacefully passed from this life to his eternal life on Jan. 19, 2022, at the age of 82, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was resting comfortably in the home he built with the love of his life, surrounded by family.
Bob was born in St. Louis, MO, on March 21, 1939, to Robert and Cecilia (Huelsmann) Curt, but spent much of his childhood living in Pinckneyville, IL, where he met his wife, Judy Sullivan. They wed on Nov. 29, 1960, and were married for 61 beautiful years.
Though he was a retired coal miner and carpenter by trade, Bob's true pride was his family. He was the husband who woke up early to fix tea for his wife before work and always had a snack ready when she got home. He was the dad who took his girls fishing and spent the entire time putting worms on hooks without his own line ever hitting the water. He was the grandpa who spent countless hours on the road, driving his grandkids anywhere on Earth they needed to be. He fixed toys and cars, wiped tears and held hands. The perfect example of what a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather should be.
Bob was Catholic but attended Coulterville United Methodist Church with his wife during the later years of his life. He showed kindness to anyone who crossed his path, knew someone everywhere he went and looked for the good in every person and every day.
Bob is reunited in heaven with his father and mother; sister, Cecilia Berry; brother, Glen Curt; son-in-law, James "Jim" Smith; and grandson, Jason Smith.
Bob is deeply missed by his wife; his brother, Charles Curt (Fran Thomas) of Pinckneyville, IL; his daughters, Kathy (Bob) Gimber of Coulterville, IL, Kim (Lester) Huckaby of Marissa, IL, Kay (Mike) Stearns of Oakdale, IL, and Kristi Curt of Coulterville, IL; his grandchildren, Mikel (David) Ayres of Nashville, IL, Kelly (Billy) Hueffmann of Belleville, IL, Nicki (Jason) Hite of Chicago, IL, Kaylyn (Mike) Hedges of Kansas City, MO, Zachary Stearns of Oakdale, IL, Kourtney (Rich) Lange of Venedy, IL, and Erin Stearns of Oakdale, IL; his great-granddaughters Lucy Hedges, Nora Hite and Baby Lange; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as his cat, Piper, and his dog and beloved protector, Mollie, who stayed by his side until the end.
Bob's love of life, kind and gentle heart and unendingly positive outlook on life will be remembered and cherished by his loved ones long after his passing.
In remembrance of his life, Bob's family requests any charitable donations be made to The Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois, Hospice of Southern Illinois or Perry County Humane Society. His family is planning a private memorial service.
