Rita Rae Stewart, age 86, of Coulterville, IL passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023, in Pinckneyville Community Hospital. Rita was born on November 14, 1936 in DuQuoin, Illinois, a daughter to Wilbur "Peck" and Wilma Stewart. Sh Read Obituary
Rita was my special education teacher when I was a student at Niles East High School. Helping me find jobs. She will be missed.
Rita was a wonderful teacher and an even kinder person and friend at Niles West High School. You could always depend on Rita to give the best education to her students. May she rest in peace.
Rita was my collaborator as costumer for over 50 years while she was in the Niles Township High Schools. She also became my boss at one point. There are few administrators, indeed human beings, with what Rita brought to all she knew. Her years in Special Education were without equal. Each person who knew Rita is today, far better, because of her magnificent talents and sensitivity.
I was very fortunate to have Rita Stewart as my social studies teacher at PCHS. She was an excellent teacher with a strong commitment to her students. Ms. Stewart's expectations were high but she was fair and friendly. I was impressed that she took time to attend PCHS Class of '63 50th reunion! Condolences to her family and loved ones.
