Richard T. "Muggs" Holloway's Obituary
Richard T. "Muggs" Holloway, age 93, of Marissa, IL, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 11:29 a.m. in Memorial East Hospital, Shiloh, IL.
Richard was born on November 1, 1929 in E. St. Louis, IL, a son to Joseph Earl and Grace (Toler) Holloway. He married Lula Belle "Lou" Fulton on December 1, 1954 in Corinth, Mississippi and she preceded him in death on July 23, 2019. Richard proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He then went on to work as a construction laborer for Union #459. Richard was a member of the Masonic lodge in Marissa. Richard was a man of the Methodist faith, who attended Tilden Methodist Church, Tilden, IL.
Survivors include three children, a son, Mark Holloway (Tracy Lugge) of Smithton, IL; two daughters, Jill (Kim) Duffie of Freeburg, IL and Cindy (Mark) Wallace of Marissa, IL; four grandchildren, Ashley (Aaron) Duffie-Willman, Danielle Wallace, Abbey Wallace and Brendan Wallace; two great-grandchildren, Tadley Duffie-Willman and Kinsley Duffie-Willman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and five brothers, Harold who gave his life for our country in World War II, Jim, Bill, Charlie, and Jack.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Masonic service will be held at 10:45 a.m.
Funeral services will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Christine Lippert officiating. Interment will be at Marissa Cemetery, Marissa, IL. Military rites will be performed by the United States Marine Corps. and the Sparta V.F.W. Post #2698.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tilden United Methodist Church, Tilden, IL.
