Richard “Rick” Gillespie, age 72, of DuQuoin, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 11:00 p.m., in his son’s home surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born on April 2, 1953, in DuQuoin, IL, a son to Andrew “DeDe” Read Obituary
Was jealous of that black road runner Mr. Gillespie had back in my younger days. Met a young man while registering to vote after my return to Illinois only to find out he was Mr. Gillespie's son. Quite a compliment to a father to have a fine son like him. My prayers for the family during this difficult time.
I met Ricky as a client theough Addus. He quickly grew from client into a friend. We spent a lot of time driving to and from appointments, enjoying good conversations. Rest easy my friend. You will be missed, but the are so many good memories!
Rick was an important teammate of mine, on our great 8th grade basketball team. An incredible athlete, he was by far the fastest man in our class. Even more important, he was a lot of fun to play with or just to be around. I was very sad to hear of Rick's passing, and can only offer my deepest condolences to his entire family.
