Richard E. Marlow's Obituary
Richard E. Marlow, age 84, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 11:45 a.m. in Washington County Hospital, Nashville, IL. Richard was born on January 17, 1928 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Jesse and Mary T. (Miller) Marlow. He was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. On August 21, 1951, he married Viola Schwarz in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. After high school graduation he went to Diesel College in Nashville, TN. He worked as a mechanic for Dunn Brothers Motors and then worked as a mechanic at Consol Coal Burning Star #2 mine until his retirement in 1992. He was a faithful lifelong member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL and a member of U.M.W.A. Richard enjoyed life, hunting, gardening, and carpentry work on the side but especially love spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Viola Marlow of Pinckneyville, IL; a son, Vernon Marlow of Pinckneyville, IL; a sister, Lucille Ferrari of Pinckneyville, IL; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cyrus and Iona Keller; a special cousin, Helen Cheek; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral mass will be at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Augustine Ibezimako officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL with military graveside rites by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504. Friends may call at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bruno Catholic School, Pinckneyville, IL.
