Richard Samuel Hensley, Sr. Richard Samuel Hensley, Sr., age 58, of rural Cutler, IL, died Thursday, April 13, 2006 at 8:08 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Richard was born on April 18, 1947 in Elys, KY, a son of J. H. and Pernie (Crane) Hensley. He was a retired coalmine construction worker and security guard. During his lifetime he was a member of the Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, a graduate of Illinois State College at Bloomington/Normal, currently Junior Warden of Mitchell Lodge #85, A. F. & A. M., Pinckneyville, an honorary member of the Makanda Lodge, U. M. W. A. Local 2117, along with being an honorary member of the U. M. W. A. in Herrin and DuQuoin, an officer and member of the Low 12, an officer and member of the Sword of Bunker Hill, and a member of the American Threshermans. His greatest love was in helping other people. He will be sadly missed by his mother: Pernie of Pinckneyville, sons: Richard Samuel "Sam" Hensley II, his wife, Tabitha, and their children: Blake, Kristian, and Rachel of Cutler, Larry Hensley, his wife, Alice, and their children: Jason, Tim, Elizabeth, Angela, and Charlie of Johnson City, IL, a brother: Alvin Hensley of Pinckneyville and his daughters: Rachel and Amanda, two nieces: Stacy Lynn and Shonda, a great-nephew: Josh, along with many other relatives and friends. Richard will be greeted at heavens door by his father, two brothers: Charles and John, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Holts Prairie Baptist Church with Bro. Collin Hirsch officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. till time of services. Masonic services are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the family, Shriners Hospital for Children, or the Southeastern Illinois Patron's Club.
