Richard Larry "Alex" Alexander's Obituary
Richard Larry "Alex" Alexander, age 70, of DuQuoin, IL, formerly of Paris, IL and Kissimmee, FL, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2009 at 8:20 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, DuQuoin, IL. Alex was born on September 25, 1939 in Paris, IL, a son to Leonard and Lorine (Griest) Alexander. He married Rosemary Haarman in Mattoon, IL and she survives. Alex retired as a construction worker and was a member of American Legion Post 647 Auxiliary and V.F.W. Post 513 Auxiliary both in DuQuoin, IL. Alex is survived by his wife, three children: Stephen (Larinda) Alexander of Chrisman, IL, Kelly (Troy) Hale of Chrisman, IL and Lanny Alexander of Packston, IL, three step-children: Doug Shuemaker of Astoria, OR, Wesley (LaDonna) Shuemaker of DuQuoin, IL and Debbie (Bill) Russell of Red Stone, CO, one sister: Judy (Larry) Smart of Mattoon, IL, seven grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Gloria Russell and a infant sister. Memorial service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Friday, December 4, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. At Alex's request cremation was to be held. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the V.F.W. following the memorial service. Memorial donations may be given to the Alexander Family.
