Raymond Millard Spinnie's Obituary
Raymond Millard Spinnie, age 77, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 8:10 a.m. in Coulterville Care Center, Coulterville, IL. Raymond was born on February 24, 1936 in Coulterville, IL, a son to Millard and Gertrude (Jones) Spinnie. In 1965, he married Joan Talbert and she survives. Raymond was of the Presbyterian faith, served in the National Guard and worked as a foreman for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 27 years. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Hope Lodge #162 and a former member of the Moose and Eagles. Raymond was a member of the Coulterville Volunteer Fire Department and was a founding member of the Coulterville Volunteer Ambulance Service. He enjoyed fishing on the Kaskaskia River with his friend Jim and sitting in the garage playing his banjo. Survivors include his wife, three sons, Dan (Tina) Spinnie of Coulterville, IL, Brian (Darla) Spinnie of Coulterville and Kevin (Kelly) Spinnie of Eddyville, IL; four grandchildren, Justin Spinnie, Lance Spinnie, Rebecca (Josh) Sheldon and Rachel Spinnie; two great grandchildren, Trent and Tanner Sheldon; step-mother, Gaye Spinnie of Belleville, IL; one brother, Richard (Anita) Spinnie of Arizona City, AZ; half-sister, Helen Spinnie of New Athens, IL; step-brother, Rick Ervin of Smithton, IL; step-sister, Pat (Herb) Gooch of Belleville, IL and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Peggy Spinnie and close family friend, Wilmer Beckley. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Ron Mazander officiating. Interment will be Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or the American Heart Association
