Raymond R. Robinson's Obituary
Raymond R. Robinson, age 85, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 3:05 a.m., in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Raymond was born at home on January 21, 1938 in Coulterville, IL, a son to Cyrus and Mary (Etherton) Robinson. On February 21, 1960, he married Faye J. Mazander in Pinckneyville, IL. For over 20 years, he worked as an electrician for the Marissa Underground Coal Mine. Raymond was a member of United Mine Workers Association, and the Grand Cote Cruisers, Coulterville, IL. Raymond honorably served his country in the United States Army with the 101st Paratrooper Division. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports. Raymond especially enjoyed playing softball and basketball; he played basketball on the United States Army team. He loved spending time with his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Faye J. Robinson of Coulterville, IL; one son, Michael (Janelle) Robinson of Chester, IL; one daughter, Angie Zimmermann of New Athens, IL; one sister, Susan Belt of Kentucky; brother-in-law, Ron Mazander of Coulterville, IL; four grandchildren, Audra (Andrew Jackson) Robinson, Emilie (Lia Jordano) Robinson, Olivia Robinson, and Makayla Zimmermann; two great-grandchildren, Orin Jackson, and Hera Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Catherine Leslie, Phyllis Robinson, and Bettie Harvey; one son-in-law, David Zimmermann; and one brother-in-law, James Mazander
Funeral services will be at the Elkton Union Church, Elkton, IL on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Ron Mazander officiating. Interment will be in Elkton Cemetery, Elkton, IL.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children's Home, Carmi, IL.
