Phyllis R. Armstrong's Obituary
Phyllis R. Armstrong, age 74, of Swansea, IL, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2008 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital Saint Louis, MO. Phyllis was born on January 31, 1934, in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Orlie and Selma "Marie" Krone Provart. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Belleville, IL a retired teacher for District 118 of Belleville, a member of St. Clair County Teachers Assoc., Illinois Teachers Assoc., Stephen Minister, Deacon and Elder of the First United Presbyterian Church, and Co-Founder of the Pre-school in the Presbyterian Church Survivors include her husband Norman P. Armstrong of Swansea, IL, two sons: Thomas (Becky) Armstrong of Arnold, MO and Timothy (Lynnea) Armstrong of Stonington, IL, one daughter: Teresa "Terri" (Robert) Nicks of Glen Carbon, IL, one brother: Harold Provart of DuQuoin, IL, one sister: Marilyn (Richard) Newby of Normal, IL, five grandchildren: Jennifer (Dr. Blake) Rodgers of Swansea, IL, Lara (Bruce) Cordiner of Aberdeen, Scotland, Ann (Nathan) Waite of Normal, IL Andrew Nicks of Tinley Park, IL and Cord Armstrong of Stonington, IL, six great-grandchildren Kaelen, Yeabsera, Kobrin, and Ephraim Rogers and Christian and Caleb Waite, two sisters-in-law: Virginia Provart and Shirley Armstrong, and many dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Victor Provart. Funeral services will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Doctor Greg Stovell officiating Interment will be in Galum Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1:00 p. m. until 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Stephen Ministry, Deacons Dental Fund of First United Presbyterian Church, or Metro-East Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
