Paul Helvey's Obituary
Paul Helvey, a retired coal miner/truck driver of Gillette, Wyoming died from complications of surgery in Rocky Mountain Medical Center of Loveland, Co on Sat Feb 6, 2021 at the age of 84. Paul is survived by two brothers; Harold (Geneva), and Albert (Cathy), sister Evelyn (Ira) Rushing, a daughter Jill (Kevin) of Gillette, Wyoming and a son Dan (Cathy) of Gillette, Wyoming. Paul had seven grandchildren, Courtney Pierce (Jay), Kate Strand (Eric), Megan Bear (Craig), Abbey Brazelton (Derek), Andrew Helvey (Tina), Justin Helvey & Amy Helvey. And seven grandchildren; Hallie, Jude, Sophie, Trigg, Oliver, Violet & Ozzy.
Paul was born in Pinckneyville, Il Jan 21,1937 to Glenn and Eunice Helvey. Paul's mother passed three days after his birth. Paul was raised by his siblings and a hard working father. He left high school early to serve in the US Navy. Paul was a Boiler Technician serving on the USS Pittsburgh, and the USS Toledo, both Heavy Cruisers. He earned the rank of E5 by the time he received an honorable discharge in 1957. Paul married Gloria Hutchings prior to his discharge and began to raise his family in Southern Illinois. Paul enjoyed life to its fullest all the way up until his death. He enjoyed cooking treats for others and delivering them. He loved good books and movies, doing woodwork and loafing at Sheehan Trucking.
Paul was a faithful greeter/member at the Grace Bible Church of Sun City West, Az. A Devoted christain man that listened to Dr. Charles Stanley and Dr. David Jeremiah weekly. Paul was a great man and will be greatly missed in our hearts and lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria Helvey; second wife, Jacqueline Helvey; and sister, Wanda Slusher.

Funeral service will be held at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Dan Helvey officiating. Interment will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be observed.
