Patsy Colleen Gimber's Obituary
Patsy Colleen Gimber, age 84, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 4:15 a.m. in Coulterville Rehab and Healthcare Center, Coulterville, IL surrounded by her family. Patsy was born on September 1, 1930, in Coulterville, IL, the first of two daughters born to Robert Stewart Kenney and Icel Velma (Elsea) Kenney. Orphaned as a toddler, she and her sister were raised by her paternal grandmother, Sarah Jane Kenney. She married Leo Henry Gimber, Jr. on July 9, 1949 in the manse of the United Presbyterian Church of Coulterville, IL and they became the parents of two daughters and one son. Patsy was a member of Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL and worked at First National Bank, Coulterville, IL and Marissa Discount Pharmacy, Marissa, IL. She enjoyed attending her church bible study group, reading, crocheting and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal fan. Patsy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was devoted to her family. Survivors include her children, Patti Rae (John) Lyoch, Leo Robert (Kathy) Gimber and Rebecca Sue Caraker, all of Coulterville, IL; brother-in-law, Donald (Betty) Gimber of Coulterville, IL; five grandchildren, Gina (Kelly) Hamm of Sparta, IL, Ryan Coulson, Sr. of Coulterville, IL, Kaylyn Gimber of Kansas City, KS Kourtney Gimber and Elizabeth Caraker, also of Coulterville, IL; three step-granddaughters, Natasha (Scott) Ford, Nicole Heape and Kate Dale, all of DuQuoin, IL; three great-grandchildren, Grace Hamm and Luke Hamm of Sparta, IL and Ryan Coulson, Jr. of Pueblo, CO; six step-grandchildren, Braden Heape, Joshua Heape, Lauren Heape, Faith Ford, Elizabeth Bird and Frank Dale, all of DuQuoin, IL; a very special aunt, Lillie Elsea of St. Charles, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; parents; grandparents; sister, Marcella Rae McKinley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo "Pete" and Cleda Gimber; three brothers-in-law, John "Jack" Gimber, Alf Powers and Roy McKinley; two sisters-in-law, Rosalie Powers and Faye Gimber; a niece, Betsey Gimber; four nephews, Lynnie Powers, David Gimber, John Alan Gimber and Kevin Gimber; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Jim Stark officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Friends may call at Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Louis University Liver Center for NASH Research. Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
