Patricia Sharlene "Sherry" Keller's Obituary
Patricia Sharlene "Sherry" Keller, age 76, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in her home. Sherry was born December 15, 1939 in Evansville, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late James Paul and Lola Jewel (Martin) Deming. She married John Robert Keller, of DuQuoin, Illinois, on June 22, 1957. In 1973, she received her BA in English Education from Millikin University. After her husband's death in 1977, she spent much of the remainder of her life in Dundee and Perry, Florida, where she owned and operated her own business. She spent time as a volunteer tutor at Perry Elementary School after selling her business and moved to Lexington, South Carolina the fall of 2014. Sherry is survived by 3 children and their spouses; Kurt Keller and wife Carol of Owensville, MO, Jay Keller and wife Lisa of Naperville, IL, and Donna Hancock and husband Mike of Lexington, SC and one brother, Jack Deming and wife Edna of Creve Coeur, MO. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Jennifer (Keller) Richards and husband Adam of Ft. Gibson, OK, John Keller and wife Charity of Broken Arrow, OK, Alex Keller of Sandwich, IL, Janna (Keller) Capar and husband Justin of St. Charles, MO, Nick Hancock and wife Brittany of Lexington, SC, Adam Stine of Manhattan Beach, CA, Jarret Keller and wife Shelby of Joplin, MO, Jaclyn Hancock of Lexington, SC, and Brandon Hancock of Lexington, SC and four great-grandchildren, Luke and Logan Richards, Carmen Hancock and Mackenzie Capar. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, two infant children Paul and Cheryl, and her father and mother in-law Roy and Arlene Keller.
Graveside services and burial will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with her brother-in-law, William Keller officiating. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in the name of Sherry Keller to: Special Olympics Illinois, 605 E. Willow Street, Normal, Illinois 61761 Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
