Patricia L. Sims' Obituary
Patricia L. Sims, age 91, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 2:05 p.m. in DuQuoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, DuQuoin, IL.
Pat was born on July 19, 1928 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Cecil and Louise (Cimossa) Brogdon. On May 21, 1948, Pat married George R. Sims in DuQuoin, IL and he preceded her in death on December 12, 1989. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL. Pat had worked for Blue Bell Packing Company and later worked for the City of DuQuoin Water Department where she retired. Pat along with husband George, owned and operated Sims Motor Sales until his death. She enjoyed her Bridge Club and was a member of Monday Club, Red Hatters and Marshall Browning Auxiliary. Pat and husband, George enjoyed golf and were members of the Elks Country Club/ Perry County Country Club. She was activity involved with her church and Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two sons, David (Peggy) Sims of DuQuoin, IL and Danny (Kathy) Sims of DuQuoin, IL; one daughter, Beth (Kevin) Pyatt of Pinckneyville, IL; eight grandchildren, Keith (Ruth) Sims, Craig (Grace) Sims, Dylan Shook, Bailey (Mitchell) Shira, Julie (Thomas) Crockett, James Pyatt, Richel (Kevin) Biby and Jana Trigg; eleven great-grandchildren, Sasha Mozelewski, Kyle Sims, Kolby Sims, Isabella Sims, Olivia Sims, Preston Sims, Grant Biby, Garrett Biby, Remi Trigg, Lyda Crockett, and Vivian Shira; one brother-in-law, Cecil Daily; one sister-in-law, Betty Moss; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George R. Sims; one brother-in-law, Horace Gene Sims and one sister-in-law, Kay Daily.
Private graveside services and interment will be held in Old DuQuoin Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL with Reverend Joe Wagner officiating.
Due to health concerns related to the Covid-19 virus and by the signing of executive order by Governor J.B. Pritzker, attendance will be limited and social distancing will be enforced.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL or Marshall Browning Tree of Life.
