P. Wm."Bill" Kocian's Obituary
P. Wm. "Bill" Kocian, age 78 of Swanwick, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10:15 a.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, IL. Bill was born on February 11, 1938 in Swanwick, IL, a son to Paul and Viola G. (Edwards) Kocian. On February 7, 1959, he married Janet Ruth Greer in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL and she preceded him in death on June 27, 2001. Bill worked as a coal miner for Consol Burning Star #3 and Arch of Illinois for 18 years. He worked various jobs during his life including, working at Missouri Pacific Railroad and driving a school bus, but he loved farming the best and had worked various farming jobs. Bill was a member of the U.M.W.A., American Thresherman Association and a charter member of I.H.C. Chapter#32 Tractor Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Survivors include ten children; Roxanne (Robert Dean, II ) Tobias of Fayetteville, GA, Melody (Don) Martie of Pinckneyville, IL, Meschelle (Roger) Brand of Pinckneyville, IL, Edward J. Kocian of Swanwick, IL, Everett (Penny) Kocian of Kell, IL, Rena` (Brian) Thomas of Oakdale, IL, Frank (Tina) Kocian of Rice, IL, William Drew Kocian of Swanwick, IL, Gretchen Kocian of Pinckneyville, IL and Tyson (Roxy) Kocian of Schuline, IL and ten grandchildren, William Scott (Nichole) Martie, Robert Dean Tobias, III, Matthew Martie, Chelsea Kocian (Jeff Niemann), Rebecca Tobias, Hannah Kocian, Lydia Kocian, Earl Kocian, Brody Mines and Carter Mines. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one granddaughter, Heather Purdue Kocian. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Noah Schlag officiating. Interment will be in Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to American Thresherman Association, Pinckneyville, IL or Illinois Rural Heritage Museum, Pinckneyville, IL.
