Orval Ernest Harvey's Obituary
Orval Ernest Harvey, age 79 of Coulterville, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010 in Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Orval was born on October 15, 1930 in Oakdale, IL, a son to Merrill and Eva Mae (Shurtz) Harvey. He married Betty Robinson and she preceded him in death on April 23, 1971. Orval then married Linda Lavarier on July 18, 1981 and she survives. At eighteen years old, Orval joined the United States Army where he served proudly. He then went to work for Barber Coleman as a sandblaster in Rockford, IL. Orval moved back to Coulterville and worked for thirteen years at MCA in Pinckneyville, IL after retiring from MCA he went to work for the Village of Coulterville, as the water plant manager for fifteen years. Orval loved gardening, fishing, making people laugh but most of all he loved spending time with his family and chasing his grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Linda Harvey; eleven children, Sharon Anderson of Sparta, IL, Dale Harvey of Tilden, IL, Jerry Ann (Dennis) Pair- Partain of Coulterville, IL, Mary Harvey of Sparta, IL, Vickie Harvey of Sparta, IL, Christina Powell of Georgia, Kathy (Mike) Cox of Coulterville, IL, Karen (John) Hlavaty of Coulterville, IL, Craig (Holly) Thompson of Murphysboro, IL, Amy (Scott) Venus of Marissa, IL and Andy (Judy) Harvey of Sparta, IL; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; a sister, Edna Fern Clevenger of Murfreesboro, TN; two brothers, Morris Harvey of Sparta, IL and Thomas Harvey of Coulterville, IL; many dear relatives and friends and his beloved tripod dog, "Jake". He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty (Robinson) Harvey; three brothers and six sisters. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Tom Foster officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
