Orange 'Merle' Campbell's Obituary
Merle Campbell, age 74, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Merle was born on December 31, 1935 in Pilot Knob Township, IL, a son to Orange J. and Opal Lenora (Hutchings) Campbell. On March 5, 1960, he married Ruth Lambert at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. Together with their family, they celebrated 50 years of marriage in March of this year. He was a member of and baptized in Bethel Baptist Church where he attended for many years and he was currently attending the Christian Science Church, Murphysboro, IL. Merle raised cattle, was a devoted farmer, a member of the Farm Bureau and an avid Panther basketball fan. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Campbell of Pinckneyville, IL; two brothers, Pat (Joyce) Campbell of Pinckneyville, IL and Elmer Lee (Carol) Campbell of Sandwich, IL; two sisters, Sharon (Ed) Hinshaw of Pontiac, IL and JoAnn (Larry) Law of Somonauk, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Jessie Campbell; five brothers, Billie Davis, Paul Davis, Clifford Campbell, James Leslie Campbell and Richard Wayne Campbell; and three sisters, Nora Davis, Hazel Pauline Campbell and Gladys Mathis Campbell. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Tim Bauersachs officiating. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Hopewell Cemetery Association.
