O.V. Holyfield's Obituary
O.V. Holyfield, age 79, of Nashville, IL, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 11:15 a.m. in Washington County Hospital, Nashville, IL. O.V. was born on November 1, 1934 in Hattiesville, AR, a son to Orvil Virgil and Lucy (Rackley) Holyfield. On May 12, 1956, he married Lola Brewer in Sikeston, MO and she survives. O.V. worked as a forklift operator for U.S. Gypsum, Pinckneyville, IL. He was saved at Concord Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL where he attended regularly. He loved to study the bible, traveling around singing and playing bluegrass music and traveling in his camper to bluegrass festivals. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Lola Holyfield of Nashville, IL; two sons, Ron (Sharon) Holyfield of Pinckneyville, IL and Daren Holyfield of Pinckneyville, IL; daughter, Lora (David) Kellerman of Pinckneyville, IL; brother, Rayburn Holyfield of Grafton, IL; five sisters, Louetta Clark of Wright City, MO, Emmalee Hedrick of Russelville, AR, Joyce Staggs of Booneville, AR, Barbara Towndsend of Dexter, MO and Jane Pickrell of Indianapolis, IN; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Tom Holyfield, David Holyfield, Roy Holyfield and Lester Holyfield; and one sister, Rebecca Holyfield. Funeral services will be held at Concord Baptist Church, Rice, IL on Friday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Fred Pringle officiating. Interment will be in Concord Baptist Cemetery, Rice, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Concord Baptist Church or Concord Baptist Cemetery.
