Norman "Tex" Brostmeyer's Obituary
Norman "Tex" Brostmeyer, age 91, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 3:35 p.m. in DuQuoin Nursing and Rehab, DuQuoin, IL. Tex was born on January 2, 1926 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to William and Emma (Feltmeyer) Brostmeyer. He married Patricia Hartwell on February 11, 1961 in Pinckneyville, IL and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2002. He served as a sergeant in the United States Marines during World War II in the pacific theater. Tex was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL. He served as Perry County Sheriff and was an Auditor for the State of Illinois Transportation Department. Tex was very active in the Republican Party as a lifelong member and was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Coulterville, IL and Pinckneyville, IL V.F.W.s. He loved Pinckneyville Panther Basketball, playing bingo and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Larry) West of Pinckneyville, IL and Peggy (Mark) Allen of Beaverton, OR; four grandchildren, Tod (Denise) Hardacre of Okeechobee, FL, Jon (Jessica) Hardacre of Summerville, SC, Knox and Campbell Allen of Beaverton, OR; three great-grandchildren, Christian and William Hardacre and Makaya Whitehead; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a brother and sister-in-law, Euclid (Betty) Brostmeyer; and in-laws, Maxine (Elmer) Lueker, Bill (Julia) Hartwell and Mary Ellen (Henry) Justice.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Cindy Bean officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Military graveside services will be provided by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Perry County Jail Museum. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
