Nina Huggins' Obituary
Nina D. Huggins, age 91, of Pinckneyville, IL, went to her heavenly home on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 2:25 p.m. in Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL. She went peacefully with her family beside her.
Nina was born on December 26, 1930 in Perry County, IL, to Clyde and Hazel (Marlow) Lee. On July 23, 1949 she married Emery Huggins in Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on October 15, 1974. She worked at Ben Franklin dime store for several years until it closed. She remembered those days fondly and would speak of them often. She enjoyed meeting all the different customers. Nina was a good cook, her homemade rolls and dumplings were delicious. She loved to quilt when she was younger and able. She did crochet, embroidery work and she enjoyed reading books and her Bible. Nina enjoyed attending church at Holt's Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and was a faithful member of many years until she could no longer get around well. Then, she still read and tried to listen to their sermons when possible.
Nina loved spending time with her family, she baby sat for several of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them play and watching movies with them.
Survivors include her three children, Brenda (Max) Witbracht of Pinckneyville, IL, Donna (Steve) Bagley of Pinckneyville, IL and Steven (Michelle Pool) Huggins of Jackson, MO; six grandchildren, Mike (Cindy) Witbracht of Pinckneyvillle, IL, Rachel (Jeremy) Schwartzkopf of Steeleville, IL, Josh Bagley of Germany, Megan (Travis) Ralls of St. Charles, MO, Kaleb (Melissa) Huggins of Jackson, MO and Landon Huggins (Fiancé, Abby Hermann) of Jackson, MO; six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Witbracht Johnson, Chase Witbracht, Ava Schwartzkopf, Gabe Schwartzkopf, Emery Huggins, and Iris May Huggins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; husband's family, who she loved like her own; two great-grandsons, Eric and David Schwartzkopf.
Funeral service will be held at Holt's Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating. Interment will be at Holt's Prairie Baptist Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Holt's Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Holt's Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
