Myrtle M. Eakin, age 100 of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 12:39 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, DuQuoin, IL. Myrtle was born on October 10, 1909 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to William Irvin and Margaret Ellen (Gilliam) Eakin. She was a member of Assembly of God, DuQuoin, IL. Myrtle enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, gardening, fishing, art work and she loved life. She is survived by a nephew, Richard (Debra) Owens of Lincoln, IL; niece, Charlene (Ron) Sawyer of Benton, IL; two great-nieces, Fadra Ruenger of Bloomington, IL and Kathy Carpenter of Albuquerque, NM; great nephew, Rocky Bo Owens of Pinckneyville, IL; and great-great niece, Casie Page of Bloomington, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lola Alice Owens; niece, Delores Bennett; and great-nephew, Gage Owens. Graveside service will be held at Paradise Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL is in charge of arrangements.
