Myrtle A. Ward Randolph's Obituary
Myrtle A. Ward Randolph, age 94, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 5:29 a.m. in her home. Myrtle was born on May 15, 1921 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Thelma Keesee. On February 7, 1955, she married Clifford Randolph in DuQuoin, IL and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1966. She had worked in housekeeping at Marshall Browning Hospital and was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL. She liked to sing and read, enjoyed flowers and gardening, cooking and collecting antique toys and trinkets. Myrtle loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She devoted her life to caring for her family, the sick, shut-ins and anyone in need. Survivors include her four children, Evelyn (John) Sherrill of Murphysboro, IL, Kathy (Robert) Baxter of Bloomington, IL, Michael (Judy) Ward of DuQuoin, IL and Zena Ward of Bloomington, IL; a sister, Delores Anders of DuQuoin, IL; ten grandchildren, Dwuan (Neesha) Sherrill, Melissa (Brian) Brown, John Sherrill, Jr., Tiffany Sherrill, Monica Sherrill, Shannon Baxter, Jarrod Baxter, Philip BaLota, Micah (Gary) McCormick and Ashley Ward; thirty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Frederick Weber; and a sister, Elizabeth Jefferson. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Gary Darnell and Reverend Freddie Banks officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Gold Plate Program, DuQuoin, IL.
