Morse Mick Weatherford's Obituary
Morse "Mick" Weatherford, age 82, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at 2:55 p.m. at the home of his daughter Mickey Sue Peveler and family. Mick was born on May 12, 1926 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to George Henry and Blanche (Brown) Weatherford. He enlisted in the United States Army during World War II and served with Merrill's Marauders in China and Burma. He married Betty Smith on October 23, 1950 in Pinckneyville, IL and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2003. Mick attended the First United Presbyterian Church of Pinckneyville, was a mechanic for Consolidated Coal Company Burning Star #2, retiring after 30 years of service, a member of the UMWA and enjoyed mechanical work. Mick is survived by one daughter: Mickey Sue (Benny) Peveler of Pinckneyville, IL, one grandson: Benjamin Peveler of Pinckneyville, IL, one great-grandchild: Aubrey Peveler, two sisters: Essa (Art) Bird and Betty Jane Weatherford of Pinckneyville, IL, one nephew: Doug Bird and family and one brother-in-law: Howard Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother: Virgil Weatherford, one nephew: Steve Bird and two sisters-in-law: Virginia Smith and Wilma Gulley. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday December 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Charles Smith officiating. Internment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to VNA-TIP Hospice, Pinckneyville, IL or Roe's Dale Baptist Church.
