Mildred B. Torrens' Obituary
Mildred B. Torrens, age 103, of Oakdale, IL, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mildred was born on August 14, 1910 in Larned, KS, a daughter to Harry E. and Katherine (Torrance) Hartman. On November 28, 1930, she married Robert K. Torrens in Larned, KS and he preceded her in death on April 6, 1991. Mildred was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Oakdale, IL, was a 4-H leader and a Home Bureau leader. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and dearly loved spending time with her family. Survivors include six sons and daughters, Leon (Dorothy) Torrens of Sparta, IL, Hilma (John) Miller of Omaha, NE, Bob (Donna) Torrens of Catlett, VA, Gary Torrens of Oakdale, IL, Cathie Raney of Coulterville, IL and Joy (Charles) Boland of Colorado Springs, CO; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and many dear friends. She was preceded her parents; husband; one brother; five sisters; one granddaughter and one son-in-law. Funeral services will held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Oakdale, IL on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Phil Carson officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Oakdale, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Oakdale, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial Donations may be made to Oakdale Cemetery Association or Sparta Senior Center, Sparta, IL.
