Michael W. Lazenby's Obituary
Michael W. Lazenby, 73, died March 13, 2022 with his family by his side at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, IL.
Mike was born May 17, 1948 in DuQuoin, IL to Jack and Mary (Holloway) Lazenby. Mike served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as an electrician in the Seabee Battalion. He spent 3 years in the Navy receiving many awards. He loved serving his country. In 1979 he married Joyce(Jenkins) Lazenby.
He worked many years as an electrician at the local mines and Cero Copper where he retired in 2007.
When Mike was not camping or hanging out with his family and friends you could find him on the sidelines cheering on his 3 grandchildren. He also enjoyed antiques, gardening and bird watching.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce (nee Jenkins), mother, Mary Ann (nee Holloway), Pinckneyville, IL, sons, Joe (Amber) Lazenby, Red Bud, IL, Troy (Ronda) Lazenby, Steelville, IL, Billy (Rachel) Lazenby, Piedmont, MO, brothers, Steve(Beth) Lazenby, Pinckneyville, IL, Kent (Linda) Lazenby, Spokane, WA, grandkids, Joestin, Josilynn, Jogan, Jacob, Tabatha, Jax, Emalee, Michael, Coleton and Aden, nephews, Craig (Lacy) Lazenby, Pinckneyville, IL, Matt (Mary) Lazenby, O'Fallon, IL, CJ Jenkins, Seattle, WA, Matthew Jenkins, Seattle, WA, and Ryan Lazenby, Spokane, WA, nieces, Tabitha (Shane) Nelson of Lander, WY, Dawn Jenkins (fiancé, Joshua Porter) of Gillette, WY and Sara Chapel (fiancé, Lance Smith), Spokane, WA, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lazenby, father-in-law, Ramon Jenkins, sister-in-law, Ramona Jenkins of Lusk, WY, and brother-in-law, Curtis Jenkins of Casper, WY.
A memorial service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Clardy officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery, St. Louis, MO with graveside military rites by the United States Navy. Following the ceremony, a Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the VFW, 830 South Main, Red Bud, IL 62278 and a meal will be provided.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the family.
