Michael L. Smith's Obituary
Michael L. "Mike" Smith, age 62, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 12:58 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, IL. Michael was born on July 13, 1949, in St. Louis, MO, a son to Everett and Mary (Muelhauser) Smith, Jr. On October 20, 1973, he married Ginger K. Hutchings in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL and she preceded him in death on July 21, 2009. Mike was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL and was a veteran on the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He had worked as a welder at Cooper B-Line, Pinckneyville, IL for 35 years and enjoyed hunting, fishing and dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. Suvivors include two children, Adrian Smith and Michelle (Bryan) Hook, all of Marissa, IL; a brother, Ronald (Terri) Smith of Hillsboro, MO; a sister, Kathy Smith of Belleville, IL; and three grandchildren, Jacob Musielak, Kaydence Hook and Gabrelle Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and one sister, Marsha. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Tom Foster officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
