Michael G. Curry's Obituary
Michael G. Curry, age 54, of Mt. Vernon, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 4:36 a.m. in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Michael was born in Sparta, IL on November 5, 1964, the son of Kenneth "Gene" and Mary Alvenia (Robbins) Curry. He married Esther Prosise on September 23, 2000 in Mt. Vernon, IL and she survives. Michael practiced law for twenty-six years after graduating from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1992. He owned the Curry Law Office, Mt. Vernon, IL. He was a member of Meadowbrook Christian Church, Mt. Vernon, IL, Sparta Community Chorus, Illinois Bar Association and the Jefferson County Bar Association. Michael was a writer and published a book about adopting their daughter, Abigail. He enjoyed reading, collecting comic books, acting and singing in the Sparta Community Chorus, studying history and researching genealogy. Mostly, Michael loved spending time with his family and friends.
Michael is survived by his wife, Esther Curry of Mt. Vernon, IL; daughter, Abigail Curry of Mt. Vernon, IL; father , Kenneth "Gene" Curry of Coulterville, IL; two sisters, Kathryn (Eric) Campbell of Coulterville, IL, and Robin Curry of Veedersburg, IN; a half-sister, Yvonne (Gene) Dillingham of Murphysboro, IL; a half-brother, Emmett Johnson of Jackson, MS; father-in-law, Harvey "Eldon" (Sue) Prosise of Salem, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother, Alvenia Curry; and mother-in-law, Shirley Prosise.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Sheets officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sparta Community Chorus or to the donor's choice.
