Michael J. Filipsic's Obituary
Michael J. Filipsic, age 58, of Pinckneyville, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 26, 2006 in Morgansfield, Kentucky. Mike was born on October 3, 1947 in Pinckneyville, a son to Mike A. and Helen L. (Schwartzkopf) Filipsic. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Merlene Knope on January 30, 1971. Mike was a coal miner working for Peabody Coal Co. at the Highland Mine in Kentucky. He was a member of the U.M.W.A., Pinckneyville Moose Lodge, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include two daughters: Meghan Filipsic of Sparta, IL and Micah Filipsic of Glen Carbon, IL, special friend: Opal Wilder of Pinckneyville, three brothers: John and Shirley Filipsic of Coulterville, Robert and Barbara Filipsic of Greenville, SC, and Milton and Edel McCabe of Keats, KS, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death parents, one sister, and one daughter: Dana Lynn Filipsic. Funeral services will be held in Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville. Military graveside rites will be provided by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Association or American Cancer Society.
