Mervin E. Moody's Obituary
Mervin E. Moody, age 79, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 9:39 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, IL. Mervin was born on December 21, 1930 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Emmett and Albena C. (Giacomo) Moody. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. On January 26, 1952, he married Ada "Oralene" Bardle and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2009. He had worked as an Aviation Electrical Technician at McDonell Douglas and then later at Scott Air Force Base where he retired after 29 years. After retiring, he worked at Pinckneyville Farm Service. He was a member of the N.R.A., enjoyed trap and skeet shooting, woodworking, hunting and fishing. Survivors include two sons, Steven (Carol) Moody of Pinckneyville, IL, and Eugene (Bridget) Moody of Pinckneyville, IL; a daughter, Nancy (Thomas) Presswood of Pinckneyville, IL; a sister, Nadine Queen of Pinckneyville, IL; eleven grandchildren, Stephanie and Megan Moody, Bridget (Daron) Fulkerson, Gina (Johnny) Murphy, Hannah (Joe) Stork, Ben Moody, Eric Presswood, Justin Moody, Kevin Presswood, Craig Presswood, and Kiela (Brandon) Vuichard; and eleven great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Katerina Moody, Amari Moody, Garret and Levi Vuichard, Chase and Cade Fulkerson, Zack and Sierra Presswood, and Payton and Cole Presswood. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Norman Moody; and brother-in-law, Donald Queen. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Justin Moody officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
