Melvin "Lee" Lindner's Obituary
Melvin "Lee" Lindner, age 78, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 5:07 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Lee was born on January 26, 1941 in Cutler, IL, a son to George "Kenneth" and Marian (Deppe) Lindner. He was a proud veteran having served as an Airman in the United States Air Force. On January 17, 1960, he married Lina Rae Keene at Denmark Baptist Church, Denmark, IL and she survives. Lee had retired from the United States Postal Service and was the owner and operator of DuQuoin Auto Supply for 25 years. He was a dedicated member of the United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. He was also a member of the Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, the Elks of DuQuoin, the Pinckneyville Lions Club, and a founding member of the Pinckneyville Optimist Club. Lee was a very patriotic man, was always sure to attend the local veteran and memorial services and a highlight for Lee was being able to go on a veteran's honor flight in 2016. He was also a huge Panther fan.
Survivors include his wife, Lina Rae Lindner of Pinckneyville, IL, with whom he was getting ready to celebrate 60 years of marriage this month; two sons, Kent Lindner of Pinckneyville, IL and Blake Lindner of Havana, IL; a daughter, Penny (Dick) Corn of Pinckneyville, IL; two sisters, Janet Miller of Pinckneyville, IL and Karen (John) Peradotto of Pinckneyville, IL; six grandchildren, Lane (Chelsey) Woodside, Mason (Amy) Woodside, Collin (Erin) Woodside, Jacie Lindner, Sydnie Lindner and Hallie Lindner; six great-grandchildren, Rowyn, Beckham Lee, Jack, Grace, Brynn and Cecily; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, John Svanda; two brothers, Glen Lindner and Terry Lindner; a sister, Linda Hepp; and a great-grandson, Brody Lane Woodside.
Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Don Meeks officiating. Military honors will be provided by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504.
Visitation will be at the United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois.
