Melba J. Wilks' Obituary
Melba J. Wilks, age 82, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 9:17 a.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, IL. Melba was born on February 13, 1930 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to John and Fletah (Purcell) Sullivan. On December 16, 1947, she married Glenn Wilks in the First United Methodist Church parsonage, Pinckneyville, IL. She was a homemaker and a member of Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and dearly loved taking care of and spending time with her family. Melba is survived by her husband of 64 years of marriage, Glenn Wilks of Pinckneyville, IL; a son, Larry (Beverly) Wilks of Pinckneyville, IL; three daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Buck of Pinckneyville, IL; Gayle (Randy) Lowe of Coulterville, IL; Martha (Brian) Chandler of Pinckneyville, IL; a brother, John "Sonny" Sullivan of Pinckneyville, IL; four sisters, Carol (Gene) Sronce of Pinckneyville, IL, Judy (Bob) Curt of Coulterville, IL, Janice (Jerry) Meyer of Manita, IL, and Mary Jo (Steve) Procise of Hoyleton, IL; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren, Sean Buck and Erica Buck. Funeral services will be held at Holt's Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating. Interment will be in Holts Prairie Baptist Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
