Melba June Rust's Obituary
Melba June Rust, age 92, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 10:10 p.m., in Coulterville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Coulterville, IL.
Melba was born on September 11, 1932 in Oakdale, IL, a daughter to Oliver and Edna (Huff) Fox. On April 30, 1955, she married Robert H. Rust in Steeleville, IL and he survives. She was a homemaker who took care of her family. Melba was a member of the Coulterville VFW Auxiliary, Coulterville Women’s Club, and was a Worthy Matron in the Eastern Star. For fourteen years she volunteered for the Coulterville Ambulance Service, and for the Sparta Hospital Auxiliary where she worked in the gift shop. Melba loved spending time with her husband, children, grand-children, and great grand-children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 70 years, Robert Rust of Coulterville, IL; her children, Robert Michael “Mike” Rust of Coulterville,IL and Patti Sue (Mark) Miles of Coulterville, IL; one brother, Carl (Jan) Fox of Coulterville, IL; one sister, Geraldine “Gerry” (Roy) Jentzsch of Augusta, MO; four grand-children, Kristina (Nathan) Scott of Carbondale, IL, Robert “Scott” (Dani) Rust of Coulterville, IL, Jennifer (Greg) Huckstep of Wentzville, MO, and Stephen (Abbey) Miles of Sparta, IL; eight great grand-children, Danielle Scott, Callie Scott, Lane Huckstep, Kaylee Huckstep, Nolan Rust, Nash Rust, Jaxon Miles, and Layla Miles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother in infancy, Gerald Fox; brothers, Herman Fox, Harold Fox, and Howard Fox; and four sisters, Virginia Garrett, Elizabeth “Betty” Brown, Joan Kershaw, and Gladys Wessel.
A funeral service will be held at Calvary Church, Sparta, IL on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with Brother Tim McIntyre officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
Friends may call at Calvary Church, Sparta, IL on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Coulterville VFW Auxiliary.
