Mary Ruth Stewart's Obituary
Mary Ruth Stewart, age 69, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 2:15 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL. Mary Ruth was born on October 4, 1938 a daughter to Robert C. "Whitey" and Mildred Mae (Dempsey) Millikin. On April 18, 1959, she married William G. "Bill" Stewart and he survives. Mary Ruth attended Beaucoup Grade School and was a 1956 honor graduate from Pinckneyville Community High School. Her work career included Illinois Power Company, Taylor Brothers, Reese's Accounting, and State Farm Insurance. She attended the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, IL. Mary Ruth enjoyed family gatherings and watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. She belonged to two pinochle clubs and also played cards weekly with her husband and friends in Coulterville and Sparta. She began each day reading the newspaper and working the crossword puzzles. She loved sports and was a Cardinal fan since childhood. Survivors include her husband William, a daughter: Jeanne Ellen (Lt.Col. Kenneth P.) Smith of Montgomery, AL, three sons: Timothy C. Stewart of Columbia, IL, William Christopher Stewart of Pinckneyville, IL, and Robert Patrick (Carrie Beth) Stewart of Waterloo, IL, a granddaughter: Emily Jeanne Smith, two grandsons: Robert Paul and William Austin Stewart, two sisters: Marilyn S. Millikin and Carol Jean (Bill) Sanders of Pinckneyville, IL, three sisters-in-law: Sue Milliken of Greensboro, NC, Rita Stewart and Jane (Mike) Chapman of Coulterville, IL, mother-in-law: Wilma Stewart of Coulterville, IL, and nine nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Roberta M. Dinkela and Shirley A. Millikin, two brothers: Kenneth J. Millikin and Paul R. Milliken and a nephew: Kenneth C. Millikin. Funeral services will be held the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Rick Hatley officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, July 28, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00p.m. and again on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. then at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service. Memorial donations may be made to the Swanwick Cemetery Association, the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association
