Mary Etta Rabe's Obituary
Mary Etta Rabe, age 93, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 5:32 p.m., in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Mary was born on February 5, 1932, in Tamaroa, IL, a daughter to Joseph Thomas and Marguerite (Stotz) Koss. On April 7, 1956, she married Lawrence “Larry” Rabe at First Christian Church in DuQuoin, IL and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2008. Mary was an active member at First United Methodist Church in Pinckneyville, IL. She volunteered her time for the Summer Lunch Program, United Methodist Women and Caring and Sharing in Pinckneyville, IL. For many years, Mary was involved with the American Red Cross Blood Drive. Mary loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her two sons, Dwight (Marian) Rabe of Liberty, NC and Dennis Rabe (Karen Rubrich) of Auburn, IL one sister, Helen Kelley of Bridgton, MO; and five grandchildren, Dustin (Patty) Willis of Columbus, OH, Ashley Willis of Spring Hill, TN, William Rabe of Weldon Springs, MO, Brian (Rabab Ali) Rabe of Chicago, IL, and Benjamin Rabe of Salt Lake City, UT; and two great-grandchildren, Alphonse Willis and Killian Garrison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband; one brother, Richard Koss; and one sister, Dorothy Burbridge.
A funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Leanne Noland and Pastor David Trover officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Caring and Sharing Thrift Store, Pinckneyville, IL.
