Mary Lyn Nehring's Obituary
Mary Lyn Nehring, age 88, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 10:08 p.m. in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation, Pinckneyville, IL.
Mary was born on April 23, 1933 in Rice, IL, a daughter to Claude and Velma (Miller) Hutchings. On May 12, 1951, she married Arthur A.H. Nehring in Washington, IL and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2000. Mary had worked as an LPN and homemaker and managed the family's Propane Gas business. She was also the camp nurse and co-manager at Lake Sallateeska for twenty years. She was a lifelong member and actively involved at Concord Baptist Church, Rice, IL. Mary and her husband, Art, often traveled to flood and hurricane ravaged communities to assist The American Red Cross with clean up and rebuilding. Mary traveled on missions to Africa and Mexico building housing for Habitat for Humanity and other charitable organizations. She volunteered her time and effort to the Illinois Baptist State Association and several healthcare organizations. Mary was a woman who cared about others and showed it through her actions.
Survivors include her two sons, Donald A. (Karla) Nehring of Pinckneyville, IL and Scott A. Nehring of Rice, IL; three daughters, Alice Lyn (Greg) Brock of Dallas, TX, Cheryl A. Folden of Herrin, IL, and Lori Lou (Michael) Nehring of Ballwin, MO; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jack (Carolyn) Hutchings of Pinckneyville, IL and Randy Hutchings of Willisville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson, Michael Heard; one brother, Max Hutchings; and two sisters, Charlene Dempsey and Gloria Helvey.
Funeral services will be held at Concord Baptist Church, Rice, IL on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Gary Pate officiating. Interment will be at Concord Baptist Cemetery, Rice, IL.
Visitation will be held at Concord Baptist Church, Rice, IL on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lake Sallateeska Baptist Camp, Hospice of Southern Illinois or American Red Cross.
Due to covid-19 virus, the family asks that all attendees wear a mask.
